Oliver has been a lawyer for over 26 years and has approximately 19 years’ experience working in energy and commodities.
Prior to forming Provenance Legal in November 2017, he worked in the house legal departments of BP (Integrated Supply & Trading), RWE Supply & Trading, Morgan Stanley and Castleton Commodities International (CCI). At Morgan Stanley and CCI he was European General Counsel and at RWE he was Head of Legal for the Sales and Origination Division. Oliver has advised on and managed teams involved in a diverse range of matters spanning oil, LNG, gas, power, metals, emissions, biomass and coal.
During his career, Oliver has worked on a wide range of day to day energy and commodity trading issues (non-contentious and contentious) and has widespread experience of mergers & acquisitions, trade and commodity finance, joint ventures, cooperation agreements, structured transactions, bilateral physical and financial trading, shipping, GTC and tender reviews and regulatory matters. Between 2012 and 2015 he formed an integral part of the Morgan Stanley legal team working on the disposal of Morgan Stanley’s oil merchanting business to CCI.
